Default 66 Windshield trim removal

I am having leaking around the windshield that I suspect is coming through the clips holding the trim on. I had them replaced several years ago when I had the car painted and I don't think any seam sealer was used as it leaked immediately. I looked at trying to remove this trim but the clips are so tight I would have to wreck the trim getting it off. Is ther a tool for removing this trim.

Yes, most decent auto parts stores have them. Search the archives for some examples of what they look like. I just went through this as part of prepping the car for paint. I did the ’66 roadster windshield and hardtop rear trim. I was able to do it but I found it very difficult and I didn’t need to worry about scratching the paint…..Make sure you protect your paint!! This is one task you may want to leave for someone with experience.

This is the "reveal molding removal tool" you need - any good auto parts store has them; this one is a K-D #2038.

Thanks, I have seen them but thought they were some sort of pagan symbol.

Yep… Once you start to use this tool your soul will be possessed and you will be speaking words that would make a long shoreman blush. That’s its primary function...some people also use it to remove trim.
