Default 1962 Corvette Barn Find

Just accquired a 1962 Corvette from a 19 year slumber. Posted the story in the new members forum. I guess I sholud have posted it here. Looking to see if it is possible to obtain a copy of the build information of this car based off it's VIN tag?

Here it is before the task of moving it out...

Another shot of the car...

Headed for a new home...

Had a roll bar, wide driver side belt, filler neck through the filler door, and some other "odd things"

Was suprised to see this...

I posted the back story on the car in the aforementioned forum. I would really appreciate ANY insight as to the best way to research the history of this car. Also any suggestions as to the best way to re-do this car would also be a big help. Thanks for your time... Rob

There is info if the 62 has a VIN number higher than 6000. You can begin by sending off to the NCRS for the historic document that will tell you the original delivering dealer.

Geez, that's the exact same thought that I had after reading this. It's hard to see in the pictures if there are extra fender holes for FI emblems or if those rusty front drums are finned, but you've got to wonder if it could be a RPO 687 car?

With a roll bar and racing seat belt, it must have seen some kind of competion use, though the body looks better than I would expect from a former road race car. I'd like to know what the other "odd things" are on the car? This could shed some more light on what it is.

Looks like the front suspension has been set up with spacer blocks a-la Gasser, and I think I see provisions for a tow bar on the front suspension as well.

I'm thinking it most recently was a drag car, but the gas filler question does raise the prospect of Big Tank, Big Brake possibilities.

Beyond shipping information from the NCRS, there's not much to be learned.

However if the car was originally a fuel injected car, there will be tell-tale signs that we can help you identify. If it was not fuel injected, then the tachometer will have a high redline if it was a 340 horse car, or a low redline if it was a hydraulic lifter motor.

I posted the back story on the car in the aforementioned forum. ...Thanks for your time... Rob

Looks like Mickey Thompson "RADAR" front wheels. Let me know if you want to sell them.

Nice looking body on the passenger side. Do the brake drums have fins on them? I am interested in the rear steel wheels as well. Need better pictures fron and rear to help you with what they are.

This car appears to be a road race Corvette. I founded with Jan Hyde and Wayne Ellwood the REGISTRY OF CORVETTE RACE CARS. We might be able to help identify. see www.registryofcorvetteracecars.com

I thought the same thing. If this is what it seems, it would be great to see it come back to life.
