The dipstick in my 62 was purchased from Chevrolet in 1982 as a "correct" dipstick. I have no idea if it is.
Mine measures 21.5" from the tip of the dipstick to the part that mates to the top of the tube.
The "FULL" line is 2 1/16" from the tip of the dipstick.

Remember that the dipstick AND TUBE have to both match. Simply buying the correct dipstick and using an existing unknown tube can give you false level readings.
Make sure you buy BOTH as a set when getting them.

If you know the correct oil capacity with filter and you have the correct oil pan and filter, drain the oil, put a new filter on with oil and fill the proper amount into the pan (5 or 6 quarts or whatever the pan should hold). Then after running the motor and letting it settle it will show where the oil level should be on your dipstick. You can either find the correct dipstick or mark the one you have or check the tube for correct length. Other than that, there is no sure way as I have not seen any exact replacements that will guarantee they are correct. I had to do this for my 383 stroker motor as the pan and dipstick are aftermarket and who knows what the correct dipstick and tube are?

That's within 1/4" of how the FULL on mine measures out (at 19 7/16"). Sounds like mine is probably correct given the margin of error in trying to measure where the tube mates to the dipstick.

I'll measure my 62 tomorrow. My dipstick measures exactly "full" when I change the oil using the prescribed amount of oil, so I think the combination of my dipstick and tube are just right.

Dipstick Tube - The exposed portion of my dipstick tube is 8 1/8" long from the block to the opening for the dipstick.
To summarize:
Dipstick - Overall length 21 1/2" from tube top to tip. "FULL" line is 19 7/16" from the tube top.
Dipstick Tube - Overall length is 8 1/8" as measured outside of the block.
My dipstick tube is a little loose and cna be removed from my block, so if you need photos/measurements of the dipstick and tube out of the engine, let me know that won't be hard.
