saw this link on another forum. Not sure how strict CA is but when I took my 1963 plates to the DMV in TX, they did a quick look and that was that. They were more concerned about how to enter it into their computer.

Mojo did a good job on an early black over yellow plate I had done. They then did another set of yellow over black plates and the patina was way off. Jim, The LBC swap is about 20 minutes away, I will have to check it out. If you see the guy out there can you grab his phone?

Look no further!
Check these guys out! http://www.tagdr.com/
They specialize in California plates (the majority of their business).
They did my plate (Georgia) and I could not be happier!
Ask for Rod.

Had Mojo do "one" plate to see what their work was like.
When i came back it looked okay, then upon further inspection i noticed that letters were hand painted and you could see the brush strokes.
I also thought the "black" would have been powder coated but i looked like it had "one" coat of paint and it would flake of when i mounted it on the rear of my car.
I DO NOT recommend MOJO

I've done some plates on my own and Rod Pearman (Tag Doctor) was always very helpful when I contacted him by e-mail. Very willing to share tips, etc.
