Default Road & Track June 1954

Recently found a Road & Track June 1954 magazine stuffed between wall studs, in an old building. Thought y'all would like to see this.

What is that written on the cover? Duesenberg parts? What is on page 47?

I would be expecting to find old playboys between wall studs, nor car rags.

Judging by the one heading "Is it a sports car" sounds like they did not like it to much. Must of been the powerglide transmission. Even Ford offered a stick in its first Tbird. What was the big problem ? chevrolet has a decent 3 speed ?

....or they were stirring up controversy to encourage magazine sales.

Not really and certainly not suited for the C1 cars post '56. I spent most of my misspent youth replacing synchronizers in those 3-speed boxes. Very poor design and those 2/3 shifts were murder on that synchro hub.

The later "all synchro" three box was OK but by that time you could order a Muncie so there really was no point unless you were one of the unfortunate people ordering a C2 on a budget.

AZDoug, under Miscellaneous someone was selling J Model Duesenberg parts and had circled it. Don't know when; maybe 56 years ago.

Our avatar is just outside of Page, Az. Great road trip.
