You have picked up on a 6 year old thread. What is it that you want to know? If your engine is correct for the car? EM is the correct suffix for a 3 speed with 250 h.p. F.I. Corvette engine. Does it have a T prefix in the block stamped characters? If so you will likely never get anyone to believe it is real being stamped with a T plant code. According to NCRS all Corvette engine are an F code for Flint and everyone is going to tell you it has to be a re-stamp.

Here's what I got, that's why I'm asking. I'm unsure, but based off the date code and T stamp next to the cast number it denotes it to be a Tonawanda cast.

I have never seen or heard of a significance of that T by the casting number. Maybe someone else knows. The stamped characters indicate it was installed in Flint but without the paint removed from the engine pad I would say the E looks suspect and possibly an F with a lightly stamped line on the bottom to make it an E. However there was no engine coded FM so that would mean the M had to be added as well. If it started life as an F then the engine is a base 283 w/ PG.

That could very well be, the E does look suspect. Is there a surefire way to find out if it's a 250hp? Wouldn't F make it a 220hp?

No, an F would be a 2 barrel so it would be a passenger car engine.

It appears (at least to me) that the original stamp of FII07F has been modified as follows:

The engine suffix code letter of "F" has been changed to an "E". This is a pretty easy thing to do, and I have seen it done a lot better that this example.

The second letter in the engine suffix code "M" appears to have been added after the fact. Again, not a hard thing to do, and I have seen a lot better attempts than this example.

The date code looks like K556, which can only translate to K 5 56 (K = Nov, 5 = 5th day, 56 = year). That would indicate a Tonowanda block, but your stamp pad on the front indicated Flint.

Bottom line, it looks like you have a minor mystery, but still pretty obviously a restamp of some sort.
