dust shield for the lower front of a one-piece bellhousing, maybe a powerglide

Looks like a dust shield that mounts to the block, and has the early bellhousing mounted starter cutout. Have no idea what it fits.

I think you all are correct. The seller has it correct also. Mounts on the bottom of the bellhousing behind the engine. The large hole is for the starter. It is for all small black 283 and 327 applications with manual transmissions, three or 4 speed. Keeps the dust and raod dirt out of the front of the bell housing and flywheel.

Thanks - the eBay description didn't show up at first but does now and you are all correct. Not something I need fortunately...

Lots of people here got it Tom...I'm the ignorant one. The description in the original eBay ad didn't come up on my computer (it does now) for some reason and it said the part was for a '61 vette. The scale looked funny in the picture and I thought the whole thing was maybe 12" long so I got thrown off track. I'm too embarrassed to tell you what I thought it was at first.

The originals did not have that oval type metal on the opposite end from the starter. It was a straight cut.
