I think I may have stirred up a few ghosts when I jumped on the old Marlboro Raceway for few laps on the oval !!! Track was a little rough, and quite slippery with all the grass!!! Over growth kept me from getting too far off the oval. Been wanting to do that for years... ever since I found out a lot of the pavement was still there..
This pic is approaching the start/finish at the Grandstands...

FastEddy, thats pretty cool! I stopped by there 2 months ago and the care taker wouldnt let me in. Good to see you got in with your car.
Check out this cool link. First appearance of the Chevrolet Stingray racing prototype at Marlboro Raceway, Md - 1960 driven by Dr. Dick Thompson.

If you google 6000 Crain Hwy, Upper Marlboro, MD you can get a pretty good look at what's left of the track, using the satellite image. The original oval stands out clearly, but if you look closely, and compare what's there to the map previously posted by MarkL36, you can get an idea of the track layout, what's left of it.
I guess I'm a little strange, I enjoy googling the addresses of defunct raceways, to see what's left of them. Amazingly, about 10 miles from where I live, a board track once existed.
In 1926, a 1.5 mile high banked, board track was built on the site of a former WW I munitions plant, in Hammonton NJ. The track was alternately known as Atlantic City Speedway (in spite of being 30 miles from AC), and Amatol (the name of the munitions plant). This is in the infamous Jersey Pine Barron's (to those familiar with The Soprano's & Boardwalk Empire), and was extremely rural and undeveloped in the 1920's, but it was about half way between Philadelphia and AC, and just off the main road connecting Philly with the resort town. The board track was torn down in the 30's, but if you google Moss Mill Road, Hammonton NJ, Amatol Raceway (spelled incorrectly on the map) is shown as a road on the map, and the 1 1/2 mile oval can still be seen clearly through the trees, in the satellite view. 40 years ago, I road my dirt bike around the sand path that at one time was the board oval.
