tom, i feel your pain. i recently pulled my nom 427/390 and replaced it with a 496bb. the old engine always ran 200-220, and sometimes 230 idling in the summer with the copper radiator. i replaced it with a champion 4 core aluminum. the difference was amazing. it now runs 160-180, even idling in 100 degree texas heat. it looks a little different than the copper, and wasn't exactly a "drop in" replacement, but now i drive the hell out of it and don't worry about the temp! good luck. tjs
