Extra adhesive on new weatherstripping...help
I had a little problem positioning weatherstripping and as a result now that it is all on correctly, there are spots where you can see excess adhesive. What will remove the adhesive from the weatherstripping without damaging the new rubber?
Thanks

3M makes an adhesive solvent to clean up excess adhesive. I have also used Goof Off to get it off but I have also had to add lots of elbow grease.

Lacquer thinner will work fine. If you plan on having your car NCRS judged, you'll need to slop on a bunch more all over the place. The originals looked like the adhesive was applied by Stevie Wonder. Points will be deducted if it's perfect.

If you used the bright yellow 3M in a tube, the points will be deducted anyway. The brushable kind works great and looks as original. I have a five gl drum of it. Works geat and looks geat.

If the glue is a contact adhesive. Prepsole works well, safe for the rubber and the paint.
Use a soft cloth wet it and apply to the adhesive, usually after a short time it will be easy to remove/ peel off

I am not a big fan of using any adhesive remover on a freshly installed piece you intend to keep. What has worked well for me is to simply use a finger and rub over the excess adhesive over and over till it sticks to your finger. What happens is it wants to stick to itself and it rolls up into a blob and you can just pull it off. Try it sometime, but my trick only works if you do it at the time of install before it completely cures. Pilot Dan

Actually I should have mentioned that I used 3M Black weatherstrip adhesive. Should I use 3M Adhesive remover or Weatherstrip remover?
Thanks for all your help.

In most cases when 3m makes a product they also tell you in the instructions what will dissolve this product. We us what is called 3M general purpose cleaner.
