Default '55 - '58 Water Pump Heater Hose Ftg Part Number ?

Does anybody know what the GM part number was for the water pump heater hose nipple fitting that was used on 1955 thru 1958 Corvette's ?

This is the bent or angled fitting that had a 3/8" NPT thread in '55-'58 as opposed to the similar fitting on '59 to '62's ? that was 1/2" NPT.

The '55-'58 nipple was for a 5/8" hose while the '59-'62 nipple was for a 3/4" heater hose.

If you have the GM p/n of the 1/2" ftg I'd also be interested in that also.

Thank you,
Jerry

Default Nipple part #

The part number of the GM nipple is long gone from even my 30 year old GM parts catalog, but the Paragon part number is 798 and can be found here.

https://www.paragoncorvette.com/c-22...aspx?pagenum=6

You might be able to find a part number in the 1958 assembly manual, but if the fitting was already on the engine when it left Flint, it won't be in the AIM.

RON

Thank you Ron,
No it is not listed in my 1973 issue parts book either.
I don't believe they were listed in the assembly manuals.
Yeah I know about the Paragon one(s) - I'm looking for the original GM part number for the '55 - '58 nipple .
Actually I think do have the number for the '58-'62 nipple - 3757535 ?

Thanks again,
Jerry

'55-'58 used #3133186 nipple (3/8" NPT, "bent") and #3138803 reducer bushing (1/2" NPT to 3/8" NPT).

gb seeing you have this wonderful resource - the '62 parts book.

Could you please do me a further favour and look up some brake stuff in Groups 5.045 , 5.055 & 5.056 ?

5.045 Plate - p/n's and applications of all "Guide Plates" '56 - '62
5.055 Anchor Pin - all p/n's & applications '56 - '62
5.056 Washer - all p/n's & applications '56 - '62

I don't think there should be to many p/n's in 1962 in those groups

Thanking you in advance,
Jerry

My 62 book is at work. I probably won't be in till around noon tomorrow, so I'll try to take a look sometime Tuesday afternoon.

Actually there could be. The 62 book is a full line book, covering all Chevrolet cars and trucks from the 30's through 1962. Only the Chevy II is broken out separately, as it was a new line in 62. The 62 parts book is about 6-7 inches thick! The Corvette didn't get it's own parts book until around 1968. Prior to that, the Corvette was part of the Chevrolet full line books.

Okay gb,
That will be great.
Sorry I didn't realize that it was a Chevrolet Master Catalogue ? you were working from - there would be a lot of listings !
I would like to find out what the p/n's were for those parts for both the base brakes AND the RPO brakes.
Thanks again,
Jerry

It's in all of the '55-'58 Assembly Manuals, on the FOA 101 (Heater) sheets.

Hi John,
Yeah once I got the part number from you I was able to pull up a '57 AIM manual online.
I had checked my '59 AIM previously and it ( 1/2" nipple) wasn't shown.
I guess mybe after the '57 or '58 AIM they stopped showing it in 101.

Thank you for the info.
Jerry

Default A Big Thank You !

Thank you so much gb !
I didn't realize how much there was - I owe you for sure !
Funny that there wasn't anything in groups 5.055 & 5.056 (Anchor Pin & Washer) for the Corvette HD brakes.
Thank you again,
Best regards,
Jerry
