Default Aftermarket steering wheel for C-1

Hi,

Having trouble convincing myself to spend around $400 for the factory-appearing 15" wheel for my '58. (Converted to R&P w/Iditit column)

Anyone have suggestions out there? I have a blue interior; painted the column to match.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Bill, I can dig that.

Do they come in colors?
That looks like a wood finish?
Perhaps I can leather wrap a black one in blue...

Ray - Had the same problem with my 1960 - my solution was the fellow that makes that 15" factory looking wheel (Chuck Pelton) is a member of this forum. I got a hold of him and was able to buy a wheel that had a minor blemish in the leather for 1/2 the price - worked for me

They do make the same wheel with a black leather cover for $338.

Default Wheels

Can't speak to Blue but, I love my Black one from Chuck Pelton. Been on for a couple years and shows zero wear. Good Luck

Here's a 15" wheel I made a while back. The extra leg room really aids driving comfort, entry and exit for me at 6'1".

Beautiful wheel.

What is the toggle switch for instead of the cigarette lighter?

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions, and great pics!

Much appreciated. I will have to show my wife, as I'm building the car for her. I guess the car falls into resto-mod or similar category- going for stock appearing, or period-correct hotrod, with some minor modern upgrades. One of these should work, and I think the extra legroom would be great.

Thanks again - I'll let you all know how it turns out.

I kinda like this one the best so far, and I can get it in deep blue leather for $279.

I believe that Budnik does not sell that wheel anymore. I tried to buy another one a while back and they said it was discontinued. It is still on their website, but was not available. I have these steering wheels on a couple of my cars, and I really like them.

Beautiful wheel. -Details ? you made it yourself ? looks like the oem 17" rim. I spoke with Freeman (makes the C2 wood wheels) at a show last year -said he could whip up a 15 or 16" woody but not a 17" ..not sure why. I always thought an oem 17" C1 wheel in black walnut or mahogany would be a nice compromise while keeping appearances close to stock. Nothing like the feel of a wood wheel under sweaty palms and white knuckles
