Default C2 Convertible Question - Convertible top deck lid striker plates

If a midyear convertible came as a hardtop only car, would these have been installed?

My '64 convertible doesn't have anything cut out for these so I'm wondering if it was hardtop only.

Mine didn't have them either. They ALL should have them. The lid opens, it needs them as a striker for the latches.
Turns out, like a lot of C2s. My rear deck and top lid surround were replaced in a previous restoration (I hear gas fumes rotted out the old glass on many C2s).

As is the case more often than not, the bodyman must have overlooked replacing them.

I installed a proper set.

I think 1sttexan misunderstood your question, I believe your referring to the soft top rear latches. The diecast, chrome plated pieces installed in the deck lid, that the soft top rear pins latch into.

To the best of my knowledge, hardtop only cars, did not come with these latches.

You are correct. The word striker threw me off.

His may be a replacement lid, or could be an original softtop delete.

What other features would be unique to a soft top delete C2?

One bolt in each mounting plate for the soft top to keep it from rattling.

GAS FUMES? Rotting fiberglass? I don't think so.

Heck Gas station tanks are made of fiberglass, and Corvette 36 gal tank.

I haven't experience it myself. But I have read info regarding detoriation around the gas cap area. Due to neglect of the gaskets and seals etc. The claim was rot,dry or otherwise was not unusual in that area. I may have read here on the Forum. It's been a while.

Not sure why mine was replaced? None of the fenders show any signs of replacement or hits. Mine had a 90s frame off. New tank etc... So the history is lacking.

I wouldnt hold much stock in that statement. You might (will) hear anything on this forum.
