My neighbor was a Pontiac mechanic and worked on cars in his garage in the evenings and on weekend. There were always cars coming and going? One summer night I was in our backyard I heard this car start up. As I ran to the alley to see what it was, this black split window took off down the alley like a bat out of hell. It was then I said to myself I had to have one of those. Thirty plus years later I bought my 65.

As a kid born in 62, the C2's were the first ones I remember.
In the late 70's I saw my first Grand Sport.
That was it, after seeing it and hearing it, I knew in Soul that someday a C2 would be in my Garage.
33 Years later I'm about 6 months from having a 64 Grand Sport in the Garage. Once you get hooked, that's one barb you can never get unhooked from. (So I hear)
I also haven't seen anyone ever try.

As far as I know the Superformance model had not been invented yet. (So to speak)
I had been to some races and had been reading the car rags for years. I enjoyed going around town driving all the cool cars I could find that were for sale.
There was a Used Corvette Business that occasionally had some nice older Corvettes. The one I saw this day was what (at the Time) referred to as a 1963 "Daytona Prototype" Coupe. aka. "Grand Sport"
I have no Idea who built it. I used to have a picture of it and it was a very decent copy of the ones that are made by Mongoose, and MIA. now. I wish I still had it.
It was musical, it was fast, it was bare, and it made my heart race.
My heart is ready to race again.

Of course. (I know beautiful women inspire similar sensations.)
As with some women, there are cars that once you see them you never forget them.
Have you never looked at a car as a piece of rolling sculpture or as an Art Form?
Marveled in the Beauty and simplicity of it's Engineering?
Heard the music it plays when well built and tuned and not feel moved?
Maybe I am the strange one, but I can never remember a time when this did not apply.
I am sad for those that don't or can't make a similar statement.
People don't see something as kids, and stay so smitten by it, that 40 years later they are still willing to spend huge amounts of money on a car that most don't even drive that much if it wasn't talking to their Passion and Emotion and Soul.
