Default Need help with hinge pillar seal

I am helping a friend that bought a nicely restored 66 coupe. There is no hinge pillar seal or any evidence there ever was any present on either side.
I am not familiar with the 66 and some parts catalogs skip the 66 coupe for that part.
Did they not put them on the 66? And will a 63-65 and 67 seal work just the same on the 66?
Thanks for any advice
Jeff

This is my 66 convertible, is this the area, "on the upper door" your talking about, "you can see the holes for the pins", cant see it too much on the lower door?

I was about to put the strip in, with push pins in the seal.

I think he means the seal on the upper jam. For some reason GM experimented with leaving that one off.

66 didn't have it... Chevy traded it for a script hood emblem

I do mean the one on the upper jamb, my computer is broken and I don't know how to post pics with my iPad.

Thanks for the info, I think I will just order a set and install them like on the other year cars.

I can't remember the exact configurations but there were three different levels of that part between '63-'67.

Yup, and they cancelled it for '66; bad decision - it was reinstated for '67 ('63 in photo).

The three different configurations I was talking about were on the DOOR, not the HINGE PILLAR!

The OP was asking about the one on the hinge pillar; it also changed several times with different configurations of screws/rivets from '63-'65 and '67.

Yeah, I saw that after I posted. I didn't know the hinge pillar seal changed too and never heard of it being deleted to '66. Seems like a bad move to me as that's a common place for a leak.

I recall it was coupes only. Roadsters never lost it...

This is what confused me, I have been traveling with 2 different 66 roadsters the last couple weeks and they both had the hinge pillar seal.

I noticed when I washed the 66 coupe it leaked more than normal on both sides, so we will for sure put some seals on the car.

That's correct - it was only deleted on the coupes, and remained on the roadsters.

A previous owner probably got tired of wet carpets.
