Who can stand another whats it worth for me?
I found a car I reeeeallllly like but I think it is too much to pay, even for my dream car.
It is a black '67 390hp Roadster,4speed red stinger, black interior corect motor rebuilt
6 months ago as was the original trans and rear (3:36). Paint and chrome are new. Interior is all new but the gauges, which are in great shape for never being redone. New trailing arms, gas tank, leafsprings, bushings, rebuilt A-arms with riveted joints, new brake lines and rebilt calipers, Power steering, and brakes, sidepipes (original) pipes them selves still have the oil on them, new covers on the pipes. Corect carb, intake, seatbelts etc.
All in all a real nice car, actually looks great.
The bad things, wrong color, and no docs
So how much is this car worth? I will post what he is asking tomorrow, I am realy interested in the car just don't know,
HELP
Tom

Should be $41-$45 I think. What was the original color? Just curious.
Wouldn't mind having that car myself.

Hi Tom;
Beit right, wrong or indifferent, I use the CPI Value Guide, on the Hemmings.com site, as my "check and balance" when looking at cars to buy.
I was surprised to see that the car in good shape is valued at $43,275. Then I looked up a 427/435 car and it was $59,275. The important thing here is that the Seller doesn't get the 2 mixed up thinking that his car is as valuable as the tri-power car. The value Guide doesn't recognize things like correct color.
This is my personal opinion, but I don't think most cars actually sell for as much as the Value Guide states. You might luck out and get the car for $40K. Without docs, the car being the wrong color is a mute point. It's a "driver".
There's definitions for the different classifications "good" and "excellent" shape in the Value Guide. I would think the car falls into the "good" category.
Judging by your comment on the asking price, I think he's up near the tri-power price. Typical.

There's at least a plus or minus $10,000 swing in selling price based on factors that you haven't mentioned.
For example:
- have many of the fiberglass panels been replaced?
- is the (original?) frame heavily pitted from rust damage (or worse)?
- is the "correct" engine the original?
- was the factory exterior color green?
- by "no docs", do you mean the tank sticker is gone or that there are title issues such as a state-issued VIN?
- how does the car drive? (Many beautiful cars can't be driven home safely.)
I'm sorry if this sounds discouraging, but I've been on a few wild goose chases that could have been cut short with a little more investigation up front.

Jerry
Frame is rust free, if the body was hit it was fixed with no evidence of a hit, correct date coded engine but not the original, no it wasn't "nosale" green
Tom.

How much less is goodwood green in a 67? (assume average Big block vert price of 55$ and average small block vert price of $40K). This is a loaded question :D

I just bought 66' 427/390 convt here is how my car is.. repainted org color red, balck int matching # car with no doc but all #'s line up clean title good frame car needed carpet and the int needed cleaned and paint nice driver grade car. Paint is on the poor side nice but no more the driver grade. I looked for 3 months and this is the best deal I found.. $41k not saying that there is not a better deal out there but I feel happy with the price I paid I would not have paid much more then $41k though..
Good luck,
Mike

low 40's, high 30's....if the purchase is from an individual and it was advertised essentially locally.....otherwise, the sky's the limit
