WHO STILL OWNS THEIR FIRST CAR
My first was long bed 55 Chevy Apache straight 6 with 3 on the tree.
I don't have one but would like to see what you thought was cool in the day.

My first car was a 58 Chevy BelAir that my aunt had an accident with and gave it to me. The front fender was crushed and that was it. A quick trip to the junk yard and $5.00 got me a good one but in blue.( car was white and bronze two tone). I was 15 at the time and I fixed it up and sold it and bought a 58 Impala 348 Vert, continental kit and all. Boy I wish cameras were a little more plentiful back then so we could have pics of all those memories..........

Where were you in '62? And I did drag race it out in the boonies on a 1/4 mile stretch marked "start" and "finish" with white paint. I did not crash it, but the next owner did. He hit and totaled a '58 Corvette (and the '55) in 1963. He replaced the '55 with a '63 409/425. I was jealous then and I still am! Love the 409s.

Paid $1050 for this in 1967, sold it a year later for the same price to buy a '67 427/400 for $4000. I traced the '59 to the second owner after me but no luck finding that guy to see where it went after that. Does not show up in either the C-1 registry nor the NMVTIS. But I'm still looking - and hoping!

I do!I've had it for 40 years now!
In 1971 I bought a brand new 71 El Camino. L-48 350/270 and a Turbo-Hydro. It now has about 99,000 miles on it, and still has the original Burnt Orange Metallic paint, and the original engine. I also have the P-O-P (with both my name and my fathers, since he co-signed), owners manual, rally wheel trim ring card, key knock-outs with their envelope and the delivery inspection sheet. I don't have a window sticker though, because back then, El Camino's were considered trucks, and trucks didn't get window stickers!
My daughter, who's 23, loves my El Camino, so I guess that someday, I will give it to her.
Here's a less than great picture of it, taken in 73, as well as a pic of the P-O-P.

Safety Car
Just like my first car, a six cyl stick, I was still in grade 10 and working at a Sunoco service station, bought it from my mom in '64 for $300. She bought a new '64 SS Impala, the same color with white interior....back then rear seats were useful ....

I'm still driving my first car (literally my daily driver). It is a 51 rusty POS Chevy that I bought from my Granddad in 62 just before I went to Nam.
It is on engine number 6, a healthy 383 with a Muncie, 3.08 posi, 2 heaters and a big ole ugly air cond on COLD R12. Most people would call it a kickass sleeper.
A 51 speedo modified/calibrated into a tach and driven by a Vette tach drive dist.
Number 5(4 bolt 350 with 300+Kmi, built 35yrs ago, was still running) and number 6.

First cat was 1970 Nova, 3 speed on the floor. My dad gave it to me. 2nd car was a 327/350 1966 corvette. I love that car. Paid $1800 for that car. i was going to court one day and someone hit the car. God do miss that car.The front seat was as good as someone back seat.I now have a 1965 coupe.

This beaut was my first when I got my license back in '74.
1969 Ford Cortina MKII, $300 from a neighbors wife.
Right front fender was completely rotted out, got an almost brand new one at a junk yard for $25, even the same color!

This '59 MGA makes our C1s look like elegant, ultra-sophisticated touring machines.
My daily driver in 1967...note the slot in the front bumper so you could hand crank it
if the need arose...

Don't have it, but wish I did. A '71 Chevelle 2 door, auto 307 2B. Same color as the El Camino that was posted earlier. I'll see what I can do to scan it. Ended up painting it like the late '70s Rally Sport Camaros. Looked pretty good til the rear quarters rotted out..
