It looks too new to my eye. I am in no way an expert, but it just does not look correct to me. That is my .02.

FWIW, here are the trim and VIN tags off of my July '67 car. They passed the muster of two master Judges at the 2011 Gettysburg Regional and they looked ok to them.

That's because the trim tag is mill-finish aluminum, and the VIN tag is polished stainless steel.
Hi,

I am interested in buying this 1967 Corvette, but I am a little concerned because the Trim Tag looks to "Perfect" compared to the Serial Number tag next to it. Most tags that I've seen seem to be in the same condition whether they are worn, scratched or clean.

Any comments would be appreciated and I highly respect the opinion of the Forum members.

Thank You

http://s1188.photobucket.com/albums/...%20Tag%20Pics/ That car is definitely fake! I am the owner of VIN number 00038 1967 Corvette! Definitely don’t buy it.

I’ve had the car fully since September of 2014, but my father has had the car since it was new. So basically I’ve had the car since it was new! 😂

Sounds like you, then sir, have the real McCoy...congratulations on a one-family owned treasure. Again, it would be great to compare your "real" trim tag and VIN tag with the OP's pictures. It would be invaluable to have this information in the archives...should anyone in the future try to do research on the "bogus" car. Appreciate your response.

" The break-off location of the rivets is shiny like the rest of the rivet and looks fresh. I would look for other evidence the tag has been removed and re-installed."
Also, the break off point of the rivet shafts are fairly even with the rivet head. I believe the shafts on originals break off deeper in the rivet.
