Default Heater valve removal

What is the best way to get at and remove the heater control valve (it's constantly providing heat regardless of push/pull **** position)? C2 no air.
Thanks

C-2 with no air does not have a heater control valve. Unless you plumb a shut off valve in, hot coolant will constantly circulate through the heater core inside the cabin. That being said, the heater box has rubber seals that close the outlets when no heat is wanted. Check those seals ( they are probably gone or deteriorated after 50 years) and adjust the cables if needed. You should be able to eliminate most of the unwanted cabin heat that way. Pilot Dan

If he has factory AC then he has a shut of valve that works off vacuum. Its not all that bad to remove after you drain the coolant

Thanks for info , as Pilot Dan says, I will go for the rubber seals. I assume I can take off the passenger side heater housing to get at the seals.
Many thanks

Nope. You must remove the heater box and disassemble it.

It's a project to remove the heater box (like replacing the heater core). Try adjusting the heater cable first (you may need to remove the glove box if you don't have enough room to work). Loosen it where it attaches at the heater box so that you can manually close the heat door snugly, then reattach / adjust to hold that position with the heater **** pushed fully inwards.
