Default Looking for thread discussing C-2 Vintage Air install using a C-3 VA hose/pipe system

I read a thread this summer about someone installing a Vintage Air unit in their C-2, who, having already installed a VA unit in a C-3, realized that he could incorporate the C-3 hose/pipe system into the C-2 unit, thereby bypassing the usual route of going through the passenger fresh air vent.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Not sure I understand your question... I installed a Vintage Air unit in my '67 using the supplied pipes and hoses from VA and they don't go through the passenger vent. The vent is still in place and works fine.

What am I missing?

Apparently nothing. That's great news, because that's not what the other forum member described. Thanks for the reply.
By the way, with the new unit, how much smaller is your glovebox?

I emailed Vintage Air tech dept. that question (about the person who did not use the air vent route) and here is their response:

"You may want to ask the person who posted that. We have our lines routed that are designed for the Sure-Fit Kit to hopefully make it the easiest for a customer to install and still look clean and not add-on -we do not offer 2 or 3 hose route options – if you want to modify or change the hose routing, it is no problem, you will just have to order the pieces/parts you think you need to accomplish that – customers do that all the time to accomplish a certain look for their individual taste. Normally on a project like that, you may need to order the main components and mock them up to determine what parts you need and order them later".

Steve,
Thanks for sharing your insightful installation advice. I will pass this on to my mechanic.
By the way, since you did not install the new Gen IV unit, have you heard of any info on how this new unit installs vs. your experience?

No, I have no info on the new units but I would bet if you asked VA if the lines run the same way, they could tell you of any differences.

Let us know how it works out.
