small gauges - C2
It's looking like I will need to replace the fuel gauge in my '64. The new repro small gauges appear to be AC Delco units. Can anyone speak for how these repro gauges look compared to the original gauges? - letters, numbers, color of paint background, etc.

Why not just see about having them restored to original shape?
In either case, restore/replace, I would contact Bill and discuss it with him. His work is amazing.

The fuel gauge went in along with the tach and speedo for a rebuild at a local area long time in operation speedo shop. The technician mentioned that the silicon damping fluid had leaked out, then mentioned about buying a new gauge versus repairing the original gauge. Though he didn't say, maybe he thought it more cost effective to go with a new gauge and new guts?
Just sayin,

I wondered about that - how hard could it be to replace the dampening fluid? . . I'll contact Bill and see what he says. Thanks guys for passing that on.

I contacted Bill. He got back to me FAST! .. Bill says while the fuel gauge can be redamped there could be other issues with it, as well. He says purchasing a new gauge would be a good option but there are some slight differences between new repro and original gauge faces.
Bill says he can swap out gauge faces between new and old gauges as an option, also. I'm thinking to purchase a new gauge and see if it looks 'ok enough' to use it as is. If not, swap out the gauge faces.
