If i got better gas mileage, I would drive mine all the time...well, maybe not in the snow.

A lot of people here must have more than one!
to answer your question ... imo a nice C5 would make an excellent daily driver and I don't think you would lose a lot on it as they can be bought pretty reasonably, no problem with owning 2 and you can keep the '63 nice for your weekend enjoyment...

I'd suggest a C-6 especially a Grand sport. It has the wide body like the Z06 and ZR1,only a lot cheaper. The ride, road feel and comfort level and technology surpasses the C-5. If you get the manual you also get a dry oil sump(coupe only).
I still drive my 62 more that the GS.

If I had to pick a Vette as a daily driver, the C5 Z06 is a great value that is reliable with plenty of perfomance and good gas mileage. Very comfortable once you're in it, but not an errand car due to ingress/egress. Probably better on the freeway than around town.
All that said, I still drive the midyears more than the Z06.

Two years ago I found & purchased a 64 Vert with the intent of it beimg my daily driver. Because it's a NOM with a far from virgin body I was able to buy it right and have no worries parking it in the lot at work. My commute is only 15 miles round trip and this car with the 4spd 3.70 and side pipes has been a pleasure to drive when the early morning temp is at least 45. Where I live that gives me a season beginning near the end of March to around Thanksgiving. The other 3 to 4 months I drive a 4x4 and the 64 gets a rest indoors. I made this move because It felt wrong not driving my Corvettes (62,C5Z06,C6Z06) except in free time, which is rare with my work schedule. Even though I park the 64 at work where I can see it I wouldn't feel comfortable with the other 3 because they are in pristine condition. So I guess I would have to ask if your C2 is a ride you would subject to the risks of daily use? If not than a reasonably priced C4 or C5 should do you just fine.

If you have a total of $80k in your 63, I wouldnt be afraid of driving it. A high end C6 Z06 will cost more than the 63 and just as likely to be stolen. The new cars are more comfortable and have better performance. My C2 is by far the most fun car to drive Ive ever had. A C2 can get your adrenaline up on the way to work, without breaking any traffic laws, other than a noise reg or two. Imagine entering work everyday with a big smile on your face from the drive!

It was my brother in law's. And speaking to the other quote, the only reason I am on the forum is because he went to bed one night and unexpectedly failed to wake up. Though he was young, he had the car almost 30 years. I bought it from my sister to help her out and keep it in the family.

I promised to fix it up and take my niece to her wedding in it someday. As it stands, no one but him ever drove it and even few of his friends ever got in it. I am making it drivable so their family can drive it around and have a good time too.

Looks like an early C6 is the way to go. I'll post some pics on another thread.

The newest, most highly optioned Corvette you can afford.

Save the SWC for the days you don't have to rush around.

I need a truck. So this is my daily driver. 5000 lb Corvette.

Not sure why the question "what Corvette makes the best daily driver?" eventually becomes "why do you NEVER drive your Corvette?"

I love to drive my '58 and '69 all over the place, 2-3 hour trips, fun cruising on nights and weekends. I could never be accused of "never driving it." However, this is not being a "daily driver."

To answer the OP's question, our '03 roadster is a perfect daily driver. Always dependable, stereo and air works, fast... comfortable. A no-brainer.

For those who cant afford new I would say the C5 is very good choice. The C4 is difficult to get in and out of maybe even being harder than the C1. The early C4s also ride a little harder than most newer Corvettes. For every day driving the C5 or newer is the way to go. They handle and perform like most mordern cars and have all the safety features.

I’ve had a Corvette in the garage since ‘69 and none have been daily drivers, including my C6. I love Corvettes and every time I get into one, it’s a great experience. I enjoy working on them and driving them but they don’t fit my needs as a ‘daily driver’. I like my truck but for the most part, I drive my Civic CNG, I’m getting 20 miles for a dollar in it, it’s comfortable, the air is cold and I can whip it into any parking lot. If gas is $5, I’m getting the equivalent to 100 mpg, it’s hard to pass that up.

I put the nose bra on my '61 and drive it anywhere...took a few years to get it up to being a totally reliable car. I drive it 3 to 4 times a week and the only creature comfort missing is A/C.
A 200 mile jaunt doesn't phase me at all in the car at this point...

But, even so, you DO have to be careful where you park it and if a rain shower is in the works....well let's just say...staying hydrated in the Florida heat won't be a problem...

So you are OK with parking a $50,000 Suburban, or a $70,000 C6 at a mall but not a $35,000 NOM driver C2?

Sure. That $50k Sub will be worth $15k in 7 yrs. You can repair it with much less headache.

And it will haul all the stuff!

I expect it to deteriorate.

The C2, with pretty much certainty. Will be worth more.

I put my heart and soul into my C2.

The daily driver is just money.
