Default A bull market for collector cars - LA Times

One gauge shows the value of collectible cars has risen 33% since the depth of the recession in 2009. The growth has been fueled by the finding that they have performed well as investment vehicles.

I posted this, as it rings true with our sales over the last 2 years. Slow but steadily upward.

Mike, we wouldn't expect you to say anything different considering your industry.....no disrepect. Many reading this will disagree somewhat with your proclaimantion. The hobby car market continues to be soft as wittnessed by the selling prices of what once were 'high end cars'. I will give you this, there has been an uptick but 33%.....dunno 'bout that.

Besides, the "Real Estate" section of newspapers always puts the most positive spin on its industry, too....even in the most dire times. Read closely and you'll see that the majority of the articles are written by brokers, real estate executives, etc. who all have "skin in the game".

Honestly, I don't see any substantial recovery.

If a representative number of people are only concerned with the investment aspect of ownership, they are only car owners and not Vette enthusiast. Dennis

As mentioned in the article, the cars described are high end cars with global market appeal, such as the 300SL that would be extremely desirable anywhere on the planet.
Cars like ours have more of a regional appeal, if the US economy sucks, Corvettes follow.
Thankfully things seem to also be getting better over here, look's more positive than a couple of years back.

What people in the car mill business, pretty much people like yourself and what the real world market sells cars for is night and day.Wernt you at some point responsible for helping one or more of the Corvette magazines putting together their annual price guides? The prices in these guides are so off the mark.

Who knows ? A classic car article (with a C1 picture on the first page) in the AARP magazine was implying the hobby is nearly dead because the older crowd is passing away.
I've got two classics now but will not be buying any more.

Can't believe anything these guys say.
Just trying to get things hyped up so they can make some sales.
The reputation of used car salesmen didn't come from nowhere.

The person who invests in "a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Alloy Gullwing that went for $4.6 million in January and a 1948 Tucker Torpedo that was bought for $2.9 million." is not the same person who loved Corvettes since high school and scrapped together $50 or $60K to buy their mid-year dream car.

Maybe Corvette Mike will pay 33percent more for for the cars they buy and resale? Or maybe not.

You got anything to back up your comments? Lumping CM with the used car salesmen seems a bit of a stretch to me. Especially coming from Toronto, Canada.

Resale value? Oh, you mean the price I'll see when I'm shopping for another car. I was confused for a moment.

WOW, I am so glad I try to convey some good news about High End classic cars and the market. I did not write this article, I just shared it.

Do a Google search and you will find this type of news on more then one site. All the auctions are posting higher sales numbers and have been saying the trending is going up. Yes this is for collector quality cars.

For posting this, we get called sleazy used car sales people just trying to make a buck; Really! I did not try to sell you a car, just give you some information. Thanks for being so welcoming.

Here is another, but it looks like it came from the same basic information:
