Default S-10 spare tire

I know this subject has been beat to death but I forgot the size and years for the S-10 space saver spare tire. Can someone help me out?
I figure I better do something before I have a problem.
Thanks

Has to be the GM 4-3/4" bolt pattern and you can pretty much 'limp home' on anything that will mount and not rub. However, putting a different diameter tire on a rear axle with posi-traction is bad news. The differential will think the car is in a constant turn and wear out components pretty quickly. You can swap a front tire to the rear and put the smaller spare on the front in such a case.

Good idea.

I have to do just the opposite my HHR SS. The brakes are too big on the front to use the spare, plus posi.

Spare tire size that fits perfectly on a '66 is a Chevy S-10 Pickup 1995-1999 economy spare tire size T155 / 90 D16. Clears the manual calipers just fine. Fits inside the spare tire compartment perfect. Good luck.

Does anyone know if a new tire for the compact spare is available to purchase.
I have noticed that a lot of these spares have dry rot because of age.

This outfit lists them, but have to ask for a quote (hit the Specifications Tab):

Also found one on Amazon for $266.52!

Are the RIMS all the same on the S10's? Dia/width regardless of year?
And what size are they?

It looks to me like the S-10 compact spare is the same up to 2004. Can anyone verify this. I figure I may as well get the newest one available.

Call any local connected salvage yard, they can confirm as well as locate one for you. Believe I paid about $45 for mine 2 years ago.

Make sure you fully inflate the spare to designated pressure or it will not reach desired diameter.

According to LMC (parts supplier), the following years apply:

1982-2004 Chevrolet S10/GMC S15 and Sonoma 1983-2005 Chevrolet S10 Blazer/GMC S15 Jimmy

I would look for the S-10 Blazer or S-15 Jimmy temp. spare, since they would of been inside the cabin, and covered.

My 96 S10 Blazer has a full size spare, carried under the rear. I also vaguely remember the salvage yard people saying the S10 and Blazers spares were different. Again, check with a salvage yard, they know all the interchanges!

Tom,

My 89 S-10 Blazer 4WD had a full size spare hanging on the rear (not underneath).
But our 99 S-15 4WD Jimmy had a temp. spare inside (the one Barb rolled on I-75).
S-10 Blazer and the S-15 Jimmy are essentially the same vehicle.

And yes, full size Blazers (I have had 2 as well) and S-10 Blazers are completely different animals. Same thing with the Jimmy and the S-15 Jimmy being completely different.

John
