Default Overheating 65 small block

The folks here have helped me on various occasions. This might be of help to someone. My small block 65 was overheating at traffic lights or when idling after a good run. It was fine as long as it was moving. A DeWitts' radiator with an electric fan seems to have solved the problem. I am hoping this might be of use to someone who was in my situation.

My 65 still overheated in traffic after I installed a new DeWitts - then, I added the Spal fan and took care of the issue - however, mine was a A/C car which did not help, but surely was needed here in AZ!

Nice to see you solved the issues - nothing worse than overheating when you are out driving your midyear!

Maybe in Penn. with no a/c.

Here in Texas the stock system needs it. Mine is text book "Dewitts"correct and in new order. The electric fan helps when traffic comes up and the a/c is on. It also does wonders for short stops. Cools the carb down. Makes for easy hot re-starts.

I will add, the stock C2 (proper radiator and clutch fan) cooling system is excellent. At temps under 90 degrees it's rock steady at 180 even with brisk driving. But there are times it needs help.

That describes my 65 ac car, same exact setup and same results. 90 plus the car needs an electric fan.
