PM, most dealership service managers do not have the technical ability or expertise to "know" about specific functions or repairs, they are usually there to interact with the customer and the dealer management/area after-sales manager and the service consultants. The shop foreman or production manager is usually the "go-to guy" at the service department, the dealer will take the best tech in the shop and put him/her in that position. I might recommend that next time you need advice or are having an unusual problem just take that unopened bottle of high quality Scotch directly to the shop foreman ...

Ray,

Understood, and agree. The way he came across with grilling me on my LED addition (having to describe it piece by piece, in all it's complicated glory....twice), and then his false statement that our vehicle did not come with the 8/4 cylinder deactivation mode, I knew that already..............

BMW's are the worst culprit for stuff like this. They seem to have a built in failure for items like window regulator clips etc..Your have to drop the front suspension to change an oil pan gasket. The list goes on. I have had 5 of them. Nevermore.

Ps. No warranty,No BMW.

I always did it at 7500. I am convinced the dealers want them to break. Intervals really depend on usage.

Wait till they hit you up for the $800 trans oil change. Want to do it yourself? Then you have to buy their special oil at $400+ to keep it under warranty. They call the oil a lifetime thing. Better change it at 100k.

My daughters X5 had 180k when we sold it. Was still going strong.
