I dunno if the admins ever do this, but maybe they could store your pics on the forum server? I found this thread to be valuable with lots of good information in it. I for one would hate to see this thread go away. May not hurt to ask them? Just my 2 cents worth... Thanks again for sharing your hard work.

Minor upgrades
Over the winter (inasmuch as we get here in Texas...) I decided to fix the gap between the clutch z-bar and the header tube. It is the #7 exhaust outlet and was WAY too close to the z-bar. When I would accelerate, it would tap the bar and also liquefied the grease in the bar... I thought about just wrapping it with header wrap but knew it was no good that they were making contact. So I cut a curved slice out of the bar and welded a tapered steel plate. Ground it smooth, repainted gloss black, filled with grease and now I've got plenty of clearance and the grease stays in the tube .

repro door panels problems - input appreciated
I've been having a bit of a head scratcher with the window cranks and door panels on my '67. The lock ***** barely fit (took a TON of pressure to get the keeper to snap on!), the vent window cranks went on but slip around the stems and the main window cranks will not stay in place, when I snap them onto their stems they pop back off. See the pics but it feels like the door panel thickness is putting too much pressure on the hardware and clips. The window crank stem needs to extend about a 1/4" more beyond the door panel than it does now. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm at a loss on how to fix it without carving off the cardboard panel on the back side of the panel. Thoughts????

That's odd that they don't fit like originals. Do you still have your old originals? Just wondering if the holes they punched in the backer board for the window cranks and lock stud are a bit smaller in diameter and preventing the panel from fitting in a little tighter.
Or maybe someone else who's bought new CA panels for a 67 will comment. Bill

Rhett, my panels are 66 originals but I don't think anything is different with the backer board except the punch-out for the lock stud. My panels are for p/w but I measured the vent stud hole and its 1.5". And the lock stud cutout is quite large also (even though its in a different spot than yours). Ignore the filament tape ... that's my doing, not the factory. FWIW. Cheers, Bill

Very nice. At least you went out today and not tomorrow when it's supposed to get hot. Probably give you a shout this weekend with a few questions if your not busy.

Rhett,
Is there a possibility that you installed coupe window regulators in your car? The coupe regulators have a shorter "stem" than the convertible regulators. Just a thought.

That car is sooo Pretty.
I was going through some of the old posts back on page 13 and 14 or so and found the pictures no longer available. That is sad because this post was a great tutorial along with so interesting to follow. Thanks Rhett!

Pics
Westlotorn, Photobucket locked my pics that I had used in the thread, so I deleted those links and re-loaded all the pics using the new process (which is FAB by the way - thanks Moderators!!).
Sometimes I can't see all of someone's post pics because my RAM memory is full, restart your computer and see if that changes it. That clears out your RAM...
Excellent thought Leif, the cranks were in the car when I bought it so I "assumed" they were original - maybe a bad assumption. I'll measure them and see...

This was pretty much a perfect build thread. Lots of great shots, explanations and problem solving. I have to say I love the pictures of your Dad and you repairing the truck and car and then you with him and the Vette. It is times like that that make moments in life stand out. Thanks for sharing.

Just so you know, this thread is still getting action. I'm a little behind. I don't get as much time as I would like to search the forum and read its threads and let me tell you, yours was a great read. I just spent the last week reading this thread from start to finish. Your attention to detail is awesome. I got a lot of tips and ideas to utilize on my project. Your car is beautiful. A perfect combination of stock and modern updates. I am sure that it is a joy to drive. I can just imagine the huge smile that must be on your face every time you get in it and start the engine.
ENJOY !!
