Rotting 1959 - sad

Re: Rotting 1959 - sad (SuperFast80)
Seen this (and others before). Some of the stories behind these are funny but some even sadder than the cars. It's hard for us to imagine this type of neglect until we hear about the "it was my sons car and he was KIA in 'Nam or the such and this is all they have left to remember him. If some of these stories are true, then the Corvette still serves a purpose, maybe even more valiant.

Re: Rotting 1959 - sad (MasterDave)
Within 5 miles of my house sit a 62 and a 63....not together....they're several miles apart. I moved up here in 1974.....first saw both cars not long after. The 62 sits with just its' nose sticking out of the woods. The 63 is supposedly a FI roadster. It's under a tarp. I've never seen the tarp removed in the past 25 years. Was told to stay away from the guy...he doesn't want to sell the car. Word has it he's a bit "strange". I know the guy who owns the 62. Won't sell it. Probably not much left of either car, being stored outdoors for 25+ years. Chuck

Hey I read the story and it tells that it has been stored on the land owners land for twenty years and was last licenced in 73 and that he was just given the Vette for "Christmas".
Wow, now thats a christmas present that I'd like to get........even in that condition.
Mark.

If you ask, I'm SURE you'll be told: "I'm going to fix it all up some day".

BlackbirdZ07...
Does your uncle live in Sarasota? I've seen a 58-60 (I've only seen the front uncovered so that's the best I can guess) parked in a garage here in Sarasota since I moved here on 1978! Boy, would that be a small world

Well, I guess we can look at the bright side. Those strange people that let cars like that sit and rot for whatever reason make the other vettes more rare. I wonder how many '60 there are. 1/2??? It is hard to say I think.
It is interesting how many people call a '60 vette a '59. I am about ready to tell people it is a '59 and be done with it.
