i just pulled this out of my 69 camaro. 3869942 P High Perf B146 c-1 . It is a four bolt main and is bored 60 over. I was told this is a vette motor and i was wondering if any of you motor guru's could confirm this. Thanks for your help.
Hello BB 496, The block you listed #3869942 was offered in yrs '66 & '67, in both 2 & 4 bolt versions. 2 bolt for 390/427 Vette's & pass. car & 4 bolt for use in all Hi Po applications such as 425 ('66), 430 ('67 L88) also 435 ('67). The '66 425 4 bolt version was used in both pass. car & Vette's. If the stamp pad is still visable, this will tell when the engine was assembled & the original application (what it was installed in). The casting date code of B 14 6 states that it is a '66 application. Should the stamp pad show the letters IP or IK it is a '66 Corvette application, if the letter's ID are showing ,it's a '66 pass. car appl. Should you see the letters CE, it's a replacement block..................Hope this helps.............Chuck

thanks chuck. it looks like it has a large K 14 on it
Is there anything on the stamp pad that's located on the right front of the block surface on the pass. side. If the heads are still on ,it's in front of the pass. side head on the block surface?
We should all keep in mind that all engines that have lost their cars originally came from a Corvette, and all Corvettes that have lost their engines used to be a high HP big block.

The 942 block was only used in Corvettes in '66 (390 & 425hp). It wasn't used in '67 Corvettes at all - the L-88 and 435 used the 351 block.
Dunno - I don't follow the big cars. The 942 might have been used in the '66 Impala - I was just stating that the 942 was the only 427 block used in the '66 Corvette.
the pad looks to have the letter "T" then maybe a "C" then i cant read it. over to the right it looks like it has a "G". on the face of that pad there is a number"2" and no other number. Thanks for your help guys

The 942 block has been verified through vin# 7115073 on '67 435 cars. I would think that of the 20 L88's built in '67 there just might have been an L88 or two in the 1st 15073 built. I have a original L36 '67 vin# 11741 having a built date of Feb. 23, '67
