Default Missing some braces from my exhaust system

I was just going through a vendors pictures for a 63 exhaust system.
My car never came with 38A&B +38C&D and possibly 42?

Does anyone have a picture of the underside of their vehicle showing these parts?

All mid years with under car exhaust got those parts. That part is were the pipes were joined together and clamped to the hanger that is bolted to the trans cross member

Hmmm possibly a brain fart going here. I don't remember them but they must be there because as it travels through the crossmember I can remember ensuring the exhaust was not touching the crossmember insides. man I am gettin old. hmmmmm

Thanks.

63's actually didn't use the "batwing" hanger depicted by # 38.

63's used the hanger shown here in the middle, 2" size for 2" exhausts, 2.5" size for 2.5" exhausts.

They have the conveyor belt strapping hangers in the middle.

Refer to the pics.

I used 38C&D on my 63.
It is solid and a great improvement from the 63 setup.

Yep, another 63 only item.

Not sure if they went to the "batwing" immediately with 1964 Serial #1 or not.

Cheaper, simple, more durable and more likely to keep your pipes off the X membeer.

The #42 item, I believe, is a spacer IF the car had side exhausts.

It goes between the trans and the rear mount, raising the trans XX amount IF the under car batwing bracket isn't there.

Chuck from what I recall from what Johnz has posted over the years that spacer was never used on mid years. Only used in 69. The venders have been telling us it was used

Its not called out for in the 67 AIM under U14

Didn't know that, Keith...

My 69 is a factory side exhaust car, and it does have that spacer.

IIRC, the spacer is about 1.25" wide, 5" long and ??? thick, maybe 3/16".

Supposedly it was to compensate for the change in the engine/trans/driveline angle if the under-car hanger wasn't used. The hanger raised the tail of the trans by XXX amount, and the spacer was supposed to compensate for that on a side exhaust car.

I think it's splitting hairs.

Yes, it is shown.

Section N 14 Sheet A 2, (side exhaust section)

Page J418 in my manual.

Shows the spacer, PN 3949179 used for side exhausts.

Do you need for 2" or 2 1/2" pipes?

I have an original hanger/clamp assembly for the 2 1/2" pipes.
