1963 new carpet gas pedal alignment
After a few days of working on carpet replacement. I ended the day by installing the gas pedal. As you can see in the pic, it doesn't line up. I did replace the underbody plate but used the same rivet holes and the pedal screws seem to be going in straight. Didn't remove the gas lever. Original pedal. Can this lever move side to side? I will be taking a fresh look tonight but looking for ideas. Thanks

Your car looks just like mine!
Did you put the spacer above or under the carpet? I replaced my pedal and had a similar issue...but forget how I corrected it...It may have been as easy as shifting the lever over slightly.

I had the same issue on my '64 after installing new carpet. As a carpet underlayment Raammat and HD Frost King insulation were installed. The buildup, including carpet, was significant.
Slightly longer 1/4-20 screws were used to replace the rusted in place original screws to help overcome the increased thickness. The screws went in straight to hold the bottom gas pedal tab onto the nut board support, but when all said and done the gas pedal pad itself was cocked over to one side, not centered with the metal throttle linkage bar as before the new carpet installation.
In my case the off-centered misalignment had the throttle linkage rod well right of centered alignment with the gas pedal pad, but still on the pad itself. After screwing with it (far too long) to try and get it right, well, what to do. .. I ended up using washers underneath the molded carpet pad under the left side screw the holds fast the gas pedal pad to the floor. That leveled it out. This reestablished the 'center' of the gas pedal pad and throttle linkage.

After tightening down the screws all the way it did line up. Guess I needed to squeeze down the carpet. Tightened the inside bolt first, then the outside. I did use the spacer to make up for the padding. All is well again, Thanks

63 had first 10 inches or so painted interior colour. Then black the rest of the way. The steering hub and red part of steering column are a lower gloss, unlike most of the other interior painted pieces.
