Default header help needed

Hi guys,
I am having trouble finding headers to fit my 62 which has a 383 stroker motor with angled plugs, head casting 340292 also referred to as "turbo" heads with what looks like "D" ports. I bought a set of Patriot headers and a stock exhaust kit from corvette central which won't work because the two outside spark plugs hit the headers.

Does anyone know of a header which will clear the angled plugs and fit the stock exhaust pipes?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Frank

You don't mention which Patriot header you tried. I have a GMPP zz383 with D port heads and angled plugs. I used Patriot 8019-1 headers and all was good up top with plugs and steering box clearance. I did have to modify sidepipes however.

Hi Dennis, Thank you for replying.......
I bought the shorty tight tuck Headers and exhaust kit #321132 from Corvette Central which says it fits most angled plugs. It doesn't fit mine because I have the 340292 turbo heads (used in racing back in the 70's) The headers I bought are shaped like your 8019-1 but the front and rear plug prevent the header from going on.

I think I may have solved the problem, I'll know for sure when my new headers arrive on Tuesday. For anyone facing the similar problem, a service rep at Jegs claims that patriot #H8052-1 short tuck headers will work with the 340292 heads that have angled plugs. I'm keeping my fingers crosssed until Tuesday.

I went thru 3-4 sets of shorty tight tucks for the angle plug heads on my 327 in the '37 Ford pickup before I got one that fit. I don't have the number real handy, unfortunately

The first set was advertised to fit angles, but didn't, second set hit the frame rail, 3 or 4 fit. the Summit people were very helpful and didn't have any problems taking the non compliant headers back.

If you want full length tubes, Wesmiglitz says the hooker 1.75" super comps worked with the angle plug heads he had on his C1, as the hedman pipes I have are no longer available.

Sadly to report that the patriot #H8052-1 short tuck headers will NOT fit. They clear the center 2 angled plugs but extend down too close to the frame to make a bend and attach to a pipe. So now I've got to return my 3rd set of purchased headers and start looking again. Hedman used to make #68130 and a htc #68136 specifically for a C1 but they discontinued them because of low demand I'm told.

If anyone has a set of 68136 laying around for sale I'd be interested, or I may just get my rusty 68130 cleaned and powder coated.
