Great thread! Love all the old pics! I never realized how many C1s were cut, chopped, hacked and raced. No wonder there are so few original intact survivors!

I'll give this a try. I have lots of great period shots of my '57 FI racer, since I was lucky enough to know Dalton Danon, who bought the car when it was just a few months old in 1957.

My car in a parking lot gymkhana in about 1963 driven by 1967 SCCA champ Fred Sutherland, who was a good friend of Dalton's.

Dalton getting ready to race at Pomona or Del Mar 1958.

Same day, 1958.

My car was road raced and drag raced. ET for this 1/4 mile was 12.77. Pretty good in 1958.

Dalton's wife and son with the car late 1963.

Dalton and me at his home in Beverly Hills with some of his 43 trophies won with the car. He died in November, 2014.

The car today. Unrestored. Original engine. Original roll bar. With second owner's 6 trophies, 49 total trophies.

My first brand new Corvette - 1972 LT-1 in Elkhart Green/Dark Saddle, Taken when it was four days old. This was a truly great car, the sound of that solid-lifter 350 was music to my ears. I've had more than a few since then, and some nice ones - but this is the one I wish I had back.

That was a really cool story, great read! It's so cool when you get to know the history of the car. I envy you, I wish I could be able to do the same.

Just a couple more. Period only. Mostly. Ry57pont, I was in Coon Rapids last weekend! Have to get together some time. I'm up in Bemidji.

First race, fall 1957. No roll bar yet. The only time Dalton didn't use 22, which was his birthday. Mine, too. In 1957.

Dalton's nephew in the car in 1962.

At San Fernando drag strip late 60s.

I like the PO2 Hub Caps. LT-1 only 1,741 cars built out of 27,004 cars built in 1972. Not many convertibles!!!!
