Thanks for the kind words, Jim. I was undoubtedly "out of my mine on mescaline" when I parted with it. But, you know the old saying: "Hindsight is always 20/20! The sale eventually brought me back to the Bowtie World, and that's a good thing!

Before my conversion
Before converting to the C1/C2 orthodoxy, I did own cars manufactured by other companies.
The pics attached are of my 1961 Ford Starliner. My buddy, Dave Seversike of Marysville, WA did the transformation from a column shift, 352, peg leg into a rip snorter. It's now running a real deal 1968 428 CobraJet "LeMans" engine, with 3x2's, a Ford Toploading 4-speed, bucket seats and a 3.25:1 Tru Trac positraction. Painted in the PPG color of Tangerine. Of course, we named it the "Tangerine Dream" in honor of the Roy Scheider movie, Sorcerer, with music by the "Tangerine Dream".

Hey Plasticfreak;
Many thanks for the kind words. The Starliner sure aint a Corvette. More like a Parkwood Station wagon driving down the road. But, there just aren't many of them around.

A buddy of mine had a Starliner back in the 80's. Had it for sale forever and couldn't get a single bit on it and it was in fantastic condition. But today? People would be lining up for it!!
I've got a thing for FE Ford engines. An FE with 2x4's is about one of the coolest looking engines out there. Even better if it's a high riser or a tunnel port. Or go nuts and make it a SOHC! I keep looking around for a deal on a 66-67 Fairlane...or maybe a 63-65 Galaxie. Past that would be a Maverick with one stuffed in it!
I think Ford had some of the best looking interiors in the 60's. Lots of chrome!
There's just something about opening the hood and seeing a Hemi, a Cammer or a Boss that is hard to beat!
Thanks for posting!

Can anyone tell me about this engine? Try to identify before going to the next post!

Here's a pic of the 427/425 FE that was in my 1963 Galaxie XL. Just the way you wanted it: 2 big 4 BBL's , cast iron headers and the obligatory Sun Tach sending unit! Note the "single" brake line--scary each time I put my foot onto the brake!!

The ''TURBO ROCKET'' is the 63 OLDS CUTLASS with the 215 cu inch all aluminum motor with a exhaust turbo. Real state of the art for the day. Oldsmobile sold 3,765 Jetfires in 1962 and 5,842 in 1963, the first TURBO cars made.

Jim, you earn the Gold Star for the day. The engine is in my 1963 Olds Jetfire. As near as I can tell through research, there are maybe 12 or 13 known to still exist with their original engines. The car is just so-so, but the engine is absolutely futuristic in appearance and performance! (IMO)

Racer
Jim,
Thank you for the great photo's! You are absolutely correct, the 1987 event at Monterey was the event of a lifetime for corvette enthusiast's. The racer's reunion you put on at the Laurel Inn in 2002 at Salinas was also incredible. Any photo's of that event you can post?
Thanks,
Rick Gower
PEBBLE BEACH 1987 at the upper putting green in front of the LODGE
NCRS had their National Convention at the DOUBLETREE in 1987. They asked me to get a nice display of 53-74 Corvettes
We provided a 53, 57, 60, 62, 63 SWC, my 67 , a 68 L-88 and a 74 convert
Production Corvettes have NEVER been displayed since. Chevrolet also displayed the 59 Stingray race car and the Mako Sharks. All the VIP GM and Racer people were at Monterey that week. Real history
