Default 2-Post Lift for Mid-Year, Any Problems?

Does anyone know of any concerns using a 2-post lift on a mid-year? Was told that it causes too much stress on the doors and could cause cracking of the fiberglass at the top of the door. Comments anyone?

None that I'm aware of and have used one many times on C-2 and C-3's.

For a midyear convertible on a 2 post lift, I always leave the doors unlatched, the body will flex slightly. On a coupe, no worries with the doors.

Also pop the latch on the hood cheap insurance to prevent stress on the hood. May want to do it to the rear deak if you have a Vert. Anything that will open on a Vette when lifting it on a 2 post lift you need to open or at least pop or release the latch so there is no stress put on any fiber glass.

Two post lifts in my shop for 30 years, no problems. I have a rusty frame 65 on one right now, the door gaps look like I-95. Still no problems.

The only way I think you could do any damage is if you had a rusty frame just about to snap by picking it up on the rusty spot with the overhand behind the pickup point.

What is the difference between picking up the car AHEAD/BEHIND the normal load bearing points or when the car hits the road and then you hit a bump?

As far as unlatching doors, when I was a grease rack jockey in 1963, if you got a steel car two door hardtop up on the rack, the doors would stick and a four door hardtop was even worse. Some of the doors on the four doors wouldn't even open! No permanent damage though.

Unlatching the doors on a rack is something the weenies started way back then. No problem unless there is something basic wrong with your car to start with.

No problems at all with my 62 soft top, and I have never unlatched anything except the hood, which stays unlatched all the time it is in the garage for battery turnoff switch access.
