Recommendations on TI parts
Well, 65Silververt's build thread and warmer weather finally prompted me to dig into what happened to my iginition system on my last drive this winter. Unfortunately, the trouble shooting guide and diagnostics for the old Accell CD amplifier I've been using to fire my TI distributor confirmed it has passed on to the great electronics graveyard.
I think this time I'm going to go back stock with all TI components so I need recommendations on the best place to go to. I will need one of the newer digital amplifier replacements, coil and harness. All my original stuff was missing on the car and I sourced the distributor for it years ago.
It seems I remember a place called TI Speciality (?) Is this the best place to go?

Yes call Dave fiddler (sp). He will fix you up. But all the big vendors sell everything you need.

Are they selling re-bagged electric limited parts

Dave will charge you 95.00 per hour. If you send it to him, you had best have your bank account ready to be drained! If you want to enjoy driving your car, send it to lars and convert to points. Bag and tag TI parts and save for the day you sell, if that ever happens.

So then buy it from any vendor who has a good price. I think LIC gets 150 for it. LL is around the same price.

The biggest part of this mystery to me is figuring out the electrical harness parts I need to order. From memory I thinkg the terminals for the stock ballast resister have to be cut off and new plug terminals and connectors installed. In looking at the AIM I developed this list in addition to the amplifier and wire harness:
Coil 1115261
connector 2977253
connector 2984528
terminal 2962508
terminal 2962969
However - there are two terminals shown in the AIM to be added and it doesn't list a part no. It says "Remove existing terminals and replace with terminal provided. Insert terminal into connector provided as shown"
Is this implying these terminals and connectors are part of the TI wiring harness unit?
It looks like I need 6 connector/terminal pieces in total. Has anyone assembled one of these from scratch recently?
Thanks
Dan

OK - I don't think I need as many connectors as the AIM seems to show. It looks like Lectric Limited is probably the ticket for all the wiring components. Their harness includes all the adaptor connections. They also have the plug harness and retainer at the module. LIC has the complete modules with updated components for $399. Has anyone seen a better deal than that.
Thanks for the help.

probably too much info, but..........
I replaced a original TI on a '67 that was missing it's TI harness, etc. It had it's original AMP case and I replaced with the K & B electronics. Acquired a used TI distributor. I bought all new harnesses, terminal kit, K&B AMP circuit board, etc from Zip Products.
The terminal kit is not included in the TI harness kit. This is the kit.....E-863
You need to change the stock pink IGN terminal wire so it mates with the TI harness. I don't have it marked in the pictures, but shown. It comes through the firewall grommet from IGN switch. Non TI has a fork terminal on it to connect to ballast. Cut the terminal and add the blade terminal to connect to TI harness white wire terminal. This powers the TI AMP.
At the coil+, the engine stock harness has 2 pink wires at a lug terminal. Cut off the terminal. This leaves the 12G(big) and 18G(small) pink wires separated.
The 18G pink(solenoid R terminal) from the coil+(marked "Cut from original coil+ wire"), gets a new terminal so it mates with the TI harness pink wire going to the distributor 2 terminal connector. When cranking this wire supplies full voltage to the AMP.(note not the coil)
The 12G ballast wire is now unused. This wire marked (#1) and (#2) is the same wire. This was the original ballast to coil+ wire in the engine harness. Since it's not used for TI you can completely remove it, or tape the ends and tuck it away.

Rich5962 - that is actually just what I need. On Lectric Limited they include the conversion kit (terminals) with the harness. Some vendors like ZIP apparently don't. But it appears there is only one kit needed (Male and Female terminals) - is that correct? My engine harness and distributor have all have stock GM terminals/connectors on right now.
Thanks for the pictures and diagram.

In the modified TI diagram below, I show the 2 connectors arrowed in Red boxes. I also changed the Yellow wires to Pink. 66 & 67 it's Pink. 68 up is Yellow. The diagram is a bit confusing, made for 66-71. It was originally in the GM Service manual and it's not perfect. I erased some unnecessary items.
Since your engine harness is stock you'll have to do the cuts as I explained.
Also, while your distributor is out, check for 500-700 ohms on the 2 terminal connector while spinning by hand. It'll toggle open as you rotate. This will check the internal pickup coil. TI Diag Guide

It warmed up enough today to roll the 66 out of the garage and see if the TI amp/harness/coil transplant was a success in terms of reviving the old 427. After priming the fuel bowl it fired and ran on first hit turn of the starter so all seems to be well again. I think it actually started faster than it use to - which has been pretty fast. Just in time for Spring - when ever it finally gets here.
