Is this a correct waterpump fitting to bypass for an L76 engine? Not sure what the markings are, which makes me wonder if it's aftermarket. I know it's bit worn (I'm ordering a new one), but I'm hoping that it's what the factory used in 1963-65 SHP.

Your fitting seems to match the written description in NCRS Judging guide.
However, I have an unmolested '63 L76 and my fitting matches the photo in the guide, with the vertical diamonds only.
It seems that there were two different styles of known originals.

Quite interesting.
My vertical diamonds are located on a different flat from your photo.
The best way to describe it is: when the fitting is installed on the water pump, the diamonds face the right front (the area with the VR and horn relay).

That would be the next flat to the right of where mine is if looking top down and clockwise for next flat plane.
I found your old photo: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...8559326-a.html

What I have to offer will only add to the confusion, so I will try to limit the information.
1) The casting number is not visible with the pulley installed.
2) There is a difference you can see: 326 has a flat in front of the bypass fitting, 609 is round.
3) I have a L76 assembled in March '63. My car is very original and unmolested, with ample evidence that the "609" water pump has never been removed. This is a discrepancy from Bill Mock's statement.
4) The LAST thing I would do is buy a 3/4". The first thing Judges look for is a bushing.

If my markings are on direct opposite sides, I'd guess you might have similar markings under the rubber hose. It's really cool that yours is untouched. Hope you keep it that way. Thanks for the photos, it helped. Although, there seems to be a symbol with your diamonds that I don't have. I have 7 diamonds to your 6. Odd
