Looking For a Vette I owned Long Ago
Some guys look up old girlfriends, I am trying to look up a car I had 30 years ago. It was a 1966 Custom Vette. I was in the Indiana area in the late 70's through the 80's. We tried running a VIN search with no luck. Just by a long shot I thought I would put this on the forum. I was 18 at the time my dad bought this for me. I just took it to local shows. It was built by a gentlemen I have remained friends with all this time. His wife wants the car back for him and I just I would try to help find it. Any other ideas would be welcome.

It is nice to dream, my friend! I hope you find the Vette and the girl but remember, she's 40 years older. Some things are better left in our dream state.

Neat car. The only other one I really remember with headlights like that was a 1963 coupe owned by lefty Reeves of East Alton, IL back in the '70s. Those very uncommon headlights may help if someone is looking who had the car.
Post the VIN on here. Contrary to what many believe, no one is stealing your car from the VIN. but a lot of searches will pop them up when on public areas like this. As such, someone looking for background on his Corvette, or his old Corvette, may find you.
Any information you can remember on who bought it is a good lead to follow. When did you buy it? When did you sell it? Where did you sell it? The more you list, the more likely it is to find or be found.

We did a search through the Florida DMV and we found the car was sold in Wisconsin in 2000. Unfortunately the motor vehicle department did not update the sale with the owners name. I could write a letter to them but maybe I could find a police officer connection.

I just wanted to share with you guys I found the corvette I have been looking for thanks right, I think we sold it 32 years ago and I was lucky enough to speak to the owner today. I ended up having a connection in the police department, he ran the vin number and got me a name and an address in Wisconsin. I called 411 and low and behold he had a telephone number listed. I called and talked to the wife and I guess I was credible enough she gave me his phone number. I called and described the car and hit pay dirt. From the sounds of it the car has gone through some changes. I asked if it was for sale and obviously anything is for sale. I will be exchanging my 32 year old pictures with the recent pictures. I will be sharing them if you all don't mind.

Wow, great find, I was first convinced that your car had made it to California, I saw a similar creation, it was owned by a guy named Virgil and he owned a Napa Auto store in the small town of Dinuba,CA. Hard to believe there could be two so similar.
