Default NCRS Orphans Forum

I posted the message below in another thread where a POP got matched up with the current owner of the car. That was a good reminder of the value of the new orphans forum the NCRS just started.

The forum is for C1 thru C5's. If any of you have something with a serial number on it, get it put on. If you are not a member, have a member do it or send to me and I will put it on. Their forum requires the item, year, vin and contact info. There is no charge to put it on.

Even if you do not own or possess the item but have info about it, that too can be put on. We have all seen serialed items at swap meets, setting in people's garages and on forums. I once got a window sticker for my 67 435 because someone made a list and advertised it. I also saw a couple motors get matched up from that same list. Jim Clemens just listed all those docs he has for C1's, C2's and C3's.

Remember, it is for items for cars, not the cars. Serial numbered items of course are things like engines, transmissions, window stickers, POP's, bills of sale, service invoices, some of the fuel injection units, etc. I posted a sales slip that showed the vin of the car being bought, but also the vin of the 58 vette #8399 being traded. What a great piece of history for those cars.

Their forum is set up so info about a year/vin can actually be found even if the search is done years from now. What a great thing it is to match an item with the car it belongs to as shown by the POP below. Now there is an orphans forum...one place all items can be listed and easily searched for. Do it now before you get too old and forget.

Thanks..Gary

I have a 427 engine that would go to a 66 with VIN 194676S104400 or 194376S104400.

The "5" in those two VINs should be "S", not "5".

I have had several cars that I have bought and had the police come check out the title and Vin # and the police corrects it. It is the people at the License Branch who don't know the difference between a 5 and the letter S. Looks like some adults need to go back to school.
