Default 225 radial on 66 knock-off wheels?

Would 225/70/R15 fit on 66 knock-off wheels?
I'm thinking of these tires:
http://www.cokertire.com/p225-70r15-...h-t-a-rwl.html

I think the k/o wheels are only 5.5" wide, so 225 might be pushing...
Might have to go with the 215.
Anyone running 225 on k/o wheels?

Thanks,
-Matt

KOs are 6" wide, so they will fit the wheel no problem, but they may rub, or catch the fender lip.
I would go with 215 x 70s

Thanks.
I thought the 65 k/o wheels were 5.5" and 66 and later 6".
Well, mine are dated 66 anyway.
So 225 might rub in the front? What about 225 in the rear and 215 in the front?

don't mix your tire sizes if you have positraction unless your spare will match the rear tire size.

Looks like you got plenty of clearance here. Would 225 fit you think?
Also, I dony have power steering, so I expect steering will be much harder with the 215 radial compared to the skinny Bias Ply!

Also consider whether the tire will fit in the spare tire tub - a 215-70-15 will, but a 225-70 won't.

I run 225/60/15s on 7"-wide wheels and had 235/70/15s on there on the 6" ralley wheels with no fitment issues. But it is a '64.

Recognize that tires are meant to suit certain rim sizes and a 225 tire (8.86"-wide at the sidewall) is really meant to be used on a rim that is at least 7" wide. If you find some tires you like, check the recommended rim width before buying.

No, unless you're willing to risk VERY expen$ive fiberglass and paint damage. People forget that the midyear was designed in 1960 around 6.70-15 tires on 5.5" rims, and lost more clearance in '65.
