1963 Firewall Clip Whats It Hold? Do U Know?
I have a 63 with power brakes. Took off the booster for a rebuild and this clip is under the booster and off to the side and its holding nothing. Do you know what the clip holds?

I don't think it has anything to do with the power brakes; however my non-power brake, all original split window coupe does not have that clip. Perhaps its for some other option: fuel injection, air conditioning, etc..
I don't have that ground strap from the ballast resistor to the ignition shielding either.
I have a late May of '63 car

I think it may have been prior owner added for something...alarm,etc?
But......Is this a running driving car?
Your throttle lever is about to fall off of the accelerator lever. And that ground strap on the ballast resistor mount screw is doing absolutely nothing. It should go from the left rear intake manifold bolt to the accelerator lever, below the throttle lever.
In fact, it's dangerous to have that ground wire on the ballast mount. If the resistor element should somehow touch the mount bracket, your ignition harness, and the car, could burn up. I'd remove that immediately.
Also, what is that 10 gauge wire, yellow with black tracer, next to the ignition shield? Or is it the oil gauge line?
Is it a Powerglide automatic?

Blk63Vette -- you are showing the clip below the clutch pedal push rod -- which is correct per the AIM. There is no clip in your photos below the master cylinder area.

I bet that was a Monday car! when I rewired my whole car I spent hours looking at the assembly manual and other cars. I could never get the engine and headlight hook up to the firewall. Well whoever was working on my car drilled the holes completely wrong to secure the fire wall connection I bet someone might have had a long night that night..Put it wrong area...

The round hole in the fire wall is where my power brake booster bolts up not a clutch rod (power-glide) I just pulled it. The clip is under the booster kinda off to the side.

There is 'safety switch' wiring for the PowerGlide and more wiring for the backup light option but, in both cases, those harnesses run vertically well towards the passenger side of the master cylinder.
morly63 - yes I know where the firewall hole is in relation to the clip - my comments were on the other poster's pics...of his car.

The more research I do I saw a factory diagram showing the positive battery cable on an AC car rooted with a clip in the same location since the battery is moved to the drivers side. Just curious.

I will double check but I believe my November 62 coupe has this clip also and it's for the engine electrical harness as it winds up toward the top.
When the harness gets to the top the clip just under the gutter holds it in place (correct in your picture), not to be confused with the clip for the hood release cable.

Or maybe it's only on Power Brake cars and never made it in the AIM.
But are there other indicators that you car may have been a factory A/C car? Does it have a battery access cover on the left inner skirt? What's your Trim Tag "TRIM" code? A "X" suffix indicates A/C, along with other unique codes based on equipment.

My painter buddy has a power brake '63 roadster in the shop for a complete body off. Next time I'm in there I'll get a pic of the firewall area. Its an EARLY, EARLY car #000528 with fuel injection.

Right, and the car is a PG automatic. Now I know what the Black/Yellow wire is for......the neutral safety switch.
In the '63 AIM there is no clip there for C60 A/C, but it's possible it got added late '63 and never made the AIM, maybe in the '64 AIM?. I don't know if this Red wire pictured below was a add-on or original, but it's possible it was to be attached to a clip under the booster. Don't know.

The cowl clip is not the clip he is questioning, in two different threads. He is asking about the clip below to left of the master cylinder hole in top photo in this thread, (and in previous thread). He has his answer, the clip holds the forward right wire harness as it goes up from fuse box plug to the cowl, across to the right inner fender area.
