Default Horn replace - Delco Remy

Had a high note horn failure on my L72. Upon further inspection the horns on car are cheap new horns.

I see a ton of horn combos on eBay that state that Delco Remy horns were the same for all GM cars during the 66 timeframe. Just the brackets were different. True? Also can brackets be removed/altered on these horns?

I'm not trying to go crazy and exactly match original equipment. Bu if I can buy a nice old pair of horns that are period correct and car correct ill do it.

Thanks so much.

All GM horns are the same it is the brackets that are diffreant. IMHO if you have a real L72 I would find a real pair and have them restored

Default Horns

Yeah I hear you, but if all horns are the same from the period wouldn't it be the same thing to buy any old horns and have those restored? I guess the question is, what makes horns, vette horns?

I like your idea though, ideas on where to buy proper old horns?

I guess the car is real, all matching etc. very very honest car. I suppose the debate over what makes a car real can get real testy.

The brackets are diffreant from car line to anther. And they are welded together there are part numbers stamped into them.

I put a marine boat horn from West Marine under the hood of my C2 conv cuz the local drivers are too busy looking at the car or texting, so I only use it to make sure they stay in their lane and out of mine. Sounds incredible. Obviously, I am not trying to win any points for original specs, but that original horn couldn't be heard over the volume of the radio that people play today in their ground-space vehicles.
