Default Barrett-Jackson L88

Very exciting weekend lining up at Barrett-Jackson! I have not tuned in this week, but will be watching this weekend.

Red/red L88 coupe will cross the block with a Duntov award. Very impressive.

They are nice and they are pretty but what good are they other then set in a museum and look at them? Who ever buys it will not drive it because they don't want to get a scratch on it of dirt on it and God forbid it would break down while out on the road or someone hit it. Then what do you have? Yeah they are pretty but I guess I don't have the kind of $$$$ it takes one to buy one and two to let it set and just look pretty. Those cars are so pretty and nice that they are even to nice to be Trailer Queens. You just call a Transport company and have them come move it for you. I know everyone is different but to me if you can't drive them they are worthless. Again everyone has there own opinion and that is my $0.05 worth. Sorry but that is all the money I got.

IF you had the money then buy it and beat the ballz off it like it was designed for. When it breaks you fix it. Then you beat it again.

I watched today as several very nice C1s got hammered down at quite high prices. The camera then zoomed in on the new buyers as their trophy wives gave them a big smooch.
I wonder if these rich dudes part with all that money just to get on TV?

how about the lady that bought Linda Vauhns Hurst Olds charity car for 270K….. and then re-donated it back to them. call that what you want… I call it class.

And what's up with the TV listing (I use Dish network) not having any reference to BJ. it simply says "auto auction". even the show description only says "auto auction in Scottsdale Az. the BJ name is never mentioned. Huummmmmm.

They are just corvette enthusiast. One big corvette family remember guys... Everyone should be glad there are people that restore these cars perfectly and people that buy these cars at high prices! It's the life of our hobby...
If it wasn't for all that, it would just be another old car that no one cares about...

Yes, another one I am excited to watch.

Someone once did drive the snot out of this L88. It seems to be enjoying retirement now.

I was 14 and riding with my late dad in 1972 when he threw a rod in 2nd gear at 7000 rpm. He certainly enjoyed his L88. Greenwood Green coupe - launched like a Saturn 5 rocket. He believed in driving his Vettes like they were meant to be. There are a lot of great father-son memories between that car and his 289 Cobra. The best gift he gave me was passing on the love of cool fast cars. (sigh)

Jim is that 3:00 west coast or east coast time? BJ auction TV coverage shows starting at 5:00 on Fox here in the East.

Not ALL of these rare cars are trailer queens. I race with people who have MUCH more valuable cars, like 250 GTOs, Ford GT40s, and Bugatti Type 35s. Many of these drivers have owned and raced their cars for years. I know one young lady who has owned and raced her GTO for more than 40 years now! I raced my 69 L88 for 20 years before selling it. These cars are meant to be driven, so just go do it

They can be a good investment if you know what you're doing.

For those that may want to see the L88 cross the block, check your local TV listings. It looks like the coverage will be changing networks this afternoon. Here's a link:
