Gotta Love Barrtt-Jackson
Listed coming up in Barrett-Jackson's Palm Beach 2014 (April 11-13) Auction. As these prices rise, so do the "spin" they put on these listings...Noland Adams Restoration guide is now restoring a few cars!
This one showed up in Sports Car Market "insiders Guide"

I think that is the 13th Blk 54 Corvette I have seen and they are all original at least that is what the past 12 owners have told me . Buyer beware .

Correct. If the buyer has any disputes with the description of car, (the piece of paper on windshield with lot#) after purchase, then buyer can dispute the transaction. Had it happen to me recently at BJ. There is more protection to the buyer at BJ than many believe.

There was a white 63 SWC auctioned in Scottsdale, that I saw in person in Seattle. You have to be careful, when interpreting the description. It said, it was the correct motor for that year of car. It wasn't a matching number. Also, I found many ads, that I've been inquiring about, saying, "recent restoration" When I hear, "restoration",
I think someone has gone through the car, either frame off or frame on. The last car I saw, there was no restoration ! Everything was old and needed replacing. He did have a new paint job, but I don't call that recent restoration, but that's how he described his car.

As with Mecum, B/J pretty much passes on the info provided by the seller. Blame the seller for hokey descriptions.

I've been to both BJ and MECUM auctions. It IS the responsibility of the owner to keep it real with their descriptions. However the auctioneer has some responsibility to check over the reliability of the info especially on these high dollar cars. Having said that these auctions of full of people who spend 50k like you do 500.00 for a tv. It's beer money and they show off especially if they are on camera. Money flows like beer at the Budweiser brewery. Common sense is out the window. If momma wants the pink thunderbird, daddy keeps his hand in the air til she gets it. It's really quite entertaining, and I recommend going to one and seeing for yourself. Besides it's a hell of a car show. Also a lot of the cars are just so so but show well on TV. There are some though that are just over the top restored and gorgeous. I saw a hot rod woodie sell for 100k and I bet the seller lost his butt on it . The craftsmanship was ridiculously nice. As far as corvettes and numbers and all that BS. so many cars are restamped I personally wouldn't worry about it anymore and just buy a solid nice car and save 40 k.
