Default 62 Dog Dish on Restomod

Thinking of going with steel wheels on my 62 restomod.

Will probably be 17" & 18", tire width TBD

Anyone running these? Any sources for re-popping hub caps

wheels will be red to match the color of the car.....

thanks for any info.

The dog dish is my favorite look on both of mine as well. You would probably have to get special wheels made to hold the old dog dish caps for your application.

Are you going to be using a stock width suspension? If your going to be using something wider, like a C4 suspension, you might look into the '93-'97 Camaro wheels which were 16" x 7.5" steel wheels, 6-5/16 backspacing. I made up a set for my wife's '62 using stock hubcaps, but she preferred her chrome wheels with baby Moon caps. If you are using the stock suspension you will probably have to have some wheels custom made.

Great look!

I'm also looking for a good set. But ebay prices are just crazy.
I have a friend that has a perfect set but he's want $1,000. I'm sure not paying that.

I have my original set for my 61 BB car but they are in need of restoration. Anybody know someone who restores Dog dish hub caps?

I guess I should have given more information on my project

Its a 62 with Art Morrison chassis, using their sport IFS (its not C5/C6) and Ford 9" in the rear with mini tubbed rear wheel wells. Disc brakes all the way around, LS2, auto trans, hardtop only (mini tubbed). Going for old school look but with hidden upgrades….. probably will need custom wheels made. And of course it will be red….

Did this car have a red "flocked" top and Blue "flocked" door jams when you started?

Back in the day, we used to toss these things in the junk heap, along with ignition shielding, air filter assemblies, power convertible tops, all useless junk.

Now...

We can make you a set of aluminum CNC machined wheels that will look just like the wheels you desire, but can be in any width, diameter and offset. Isn't cheap to go this route, but definitely the best way to go if you need a custom offset, and want wider and bigger diameter wheels that look original.

Here is a set we did for a C1 restomod:

almost, but not quite a dog dish cap; looks like a cross between a dog dish and a regular C1 full hub cap

You might be able to make the stock dog dish work with billet ralley wheels, I've seen guys running them with 67 style rally caps.

Another choice is this:

http://circleracing.com/117.htm

Those combined with Db correct white stripe tires would give you very close to stock look...

Certainly a lot cheaper than the ones made by Mike Curtis, maybe not the same quality but more authentic look...

These were made to look like the 1959 full hubcap. Was saying we can cut wheels to look like any wheel you want including the dog dish.

it would be great to see a picture/sketch of what they would look like. remember, the OEM was a chromed cap on a painted wheel.

I have a set of dog dish caps that were to go on my 62 that just went away. I think that I have 5. PM me for more information and I can send pictures. If someone has a fawn/fawn or maroon/fawn 62 that has my name on it I may reconsider and keep the hubcaps.
