Yes, I see 491 code as silver. That is a beautiful color combo... one of my favorites.

Glad to hear you are going to enjoy your car. I wish we would drive ours more often!

Yep, tried that one and the second A doesn't come up?? The mechanic swears that the only thing silver in the car was the seats but can't verify that yet. Thanks!

We used to have a '64 with silver interior and it looked just like this...

I haven't seen the silver interior any other way... but I'm not saying it couldn't have come in a different pattern

Must be rare since I just checked Ecklers for silver / silver carpet door panels and they don't show this as an option? Thanks!

491AA is Silver vinyl, silver door trim, black dash, black console and ''GREY'' yes, GRAY rugs. The silver rugs that Al Knoch sells are pretty, and nicer looking than the factory GRAY. But not NCRS correct if you are going that way with restoration.

The ''AA' means includes base, but excludes A31 POWER WINDOWS and M35 Powerglide. This is for cars built between 9/12/63 to 11/19/63.

After 11/19/62, ''AA'' code has no restrictions. So hopefully your vin number is later than 7077 or there about.

Thanks Jim! Yes, my car was built January of 64 so what exactly does that mean?

That POWER WINDOWS are a OK factory install.

These ECL's as they called them(Engineering Change letter) are the letters that created options. 1964 is one of the most difficult to understand TRIM tags. The NCRS book, AUTHENTICATION LIBRARY, VOL.#1, GM ISSUED 1963-1967 CORVETTE TRIM TAGS is my source. It is packed full of info about the C-2 cars.

I might add that SILVER with SILVER is a very special car when restored.

I am proud of it and even more so with this new info. How do I get the NCRS info on my car? I am a member but don't have any of the books you mention.

This with my SWC race car you know is kind of neat I am thinking? Going to drive this one to the races when I have someone towing the race car for me.

C2 Racer, does the car have the original engine? I would love to add your car to my collection of C60 365hp cars. I have tracked both 1964 and 1965 cars for many years. I owned a 64 back in the late 70's and after selling it realized ''that was dumb''. Only years later when Noland Adams Restoration and Technical Guide Vol 2 came out did I discover how rare these care were.

Jim,

Yes it does have the original engine with one rebuild in 1992. Just .30 over bore at the time. I will send you an email with the VIN.

Thanks
Steve
