Yes, what a feeling to go into a dealer and present a check for 86K and pay it in full. Got a Tourch Red with red interior convertible, black top, 3LT, Z51 with Mag Drive, Comp seats, performance exhaust, black wheels, black Carbon end to end rally stripes, red calibers, carbon dash, well save time, got every option and many of the dealer options available,,, including the Museum Delivery..... Just waiting to be preferences, and than the build. Very excited, and ready to start with the mods.....It will look like my new avatar.

EBVette, I have been on this forum a long time, just like you and your wonderful split window. She'll be missed, for sure.

Have fun with the C7! They are absolutely amazing cars.

10 years from now the 2014 Stingray will be worth $25,000 and the 1963 Sting Ray will be worth $125,000.

That's probably true but I understand the decision....its less about the 'return on investment' at my age than pure enjoyment...

Congratulations on your sale and associated purchase. I think you'll love the Museum Delivery. Also consider the Buyer's Tour to follow your car down the assembly line. I did both for my 07 and would do it again if I buy another in the future.

You've worked hard for years to get your 63 to the pinnacle of split windows, enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Is the new owner a member of the Forum? I sold a 63 SWC that looked just like that. They are hard to let go of but you can't keep everything forever, I know I have tried.

Enjoy your new C7 convertible. You will love the whole Museum Delivery experience. Kind of sad to see that beautiful 63 SWC leaving in the trailer. Even sadder will be the respective values of the 2 cars in the years ahead as the new one depreciates and the 63 continues it's climb. But, you did what you needed and wanted to do.

Enjoy the new Vette

To heck with the discussions on values. There are days I'd like to trade in my whole collection for one nice, new high end car and enjoy a new experience

I applaud your decision.

Who knows Think about this GM goes bankrupt again the bottom of market fall out .
They don't make stingrays' any more .Would it be nice to be stuck with refined sports car like that ,the corvette becomes rare and the prices skyrocket.
Any way I did that with the 2008 Z06 ,traded my white 63 .
I found I lost my best friend ,no purpose in the garage, cleaning bar code strips on the suspension ,paying higher insurance payments.
Everyone's different I had to find another one to keep me busy .Kept the new one two years and took the money and got the one I have now.

Frankie, we are at the point where we can take a depreciation hit in return for a big grin. We've been taking hits on cars for the past fifty years.

Also, there comes a time when we put away the wrenches, (for the most part), and pick up the keys (fob).

To op, enjoy your new Vette, they're awesome!!

I had a similar experience, but it didn't involve selling the 61. Laid down the cash for a new 08 Z06, Lord that car is fast with nowhere to go. I said to myself this car isn't me, so I sold it with no regrets. Took a chunk of the cash and got a 64 GTO to work on. I'm happy. I hope you are too.

Congratulations.... hope it is everything you want it to be.

They are two totally different eras...I still live in the old era, but always made my living in the new one. Being a dealer I've owned eactly "one" new car. My 2012 Challenger...I couldn't get out of the new vettes without falling out on the pavement...lol!

Happy trails...Stan

I'm thinking this was a very smart move. It's a great and commendable thing to live well and long enough to be able to say goodbye to one thing and a strong hello to the new.

EBVette, I hope you find your C7 satisfying and re-invigorating to your Corvette passion. Some of us feel and remember being young getting into our old yet ageless midyears, while others recognize the new and feel the same getting into something totally re-imagined with all the latest technologies.

You're gonna have a blast!!!

I was in 12th grade this guys parents bought him 64 GTO .For weeks on end we beat the hell outa that car. It was fastest car He was laying rubber all the time.
I had a Jetstream blue Z06 I call it silent but deadly. Brut fast at all gears .I am older now it wasn't me either .
I am in to the cruse mode don't get me wrong I wine out the 327 hard to make sure it running at its best but as far as top speed like the Z did
it was crazy fast.
I had 1,400 miles on mine when I let it go. Then found the split window.: which I had one before for 14 years.
