Default tri-power carb setup 66?

I have always been a fan of the tri power setup on a big block. I love the way it looks! I have a restomod 66 and was wondering if this setup would work on my 427. Thanks

I see no reason why it would not. If your afarid of hood clearance get the 68-69 intake

Same here, I do like the look of the Tripower Bigblocks. I'll eventually be building a 427 with the Oval Port Tripower setup for my 65 smallblock Coupe that has a 66 Bigblock hood on it.

In my case, the parts were bought when the parts were cheap(er) keeping in mind they were never cheap, just cheap when compared to today's prices. Back in the late 80's I paid $225 for a '67 400-427 Intake in perfect shape and then in the 90's paid a little over $600 to Mark Smith in Texas for a set of new 3x2 Holley Carbs. Add in another few hundred for miscellaneous stuff plus I already had the factory 3x2 air cleaner so for around $1K I have what I need to add Tripower to my Bigblock.

They're not spending your money so what's the problem?

Who's they. And that's why I said the next I have that much extra cash that's what I'm buying. I tip my hat to any one who has no problem doing that. I know I am a minority on this board who does not have the luxury of doing this

Default add 3x2

I agree 3x2 is a nice addition....carbs can be had and there are 2 .
oval and square port what engine configuration do you have?...

as above post states...the 68 and above manifold does have a lower profile than the 67...and may not interfere w/ hood. other members may have to confirm that.. they are nice...

It will not be thrown away by any means. As you say the prices are continuing to go up. So you should think of it as the next time that you have money to invest you will.

I have an early 68 3x2 intake for a big block with rectangular port heads. It is posted with photos in the C3 parts for sale section.

I did go to the site and viewed the manifold and carbs...carbs sold
(i would go w/ new holly's anyway..unless your a carb guy and want to get the guts for them) so the manifold is a lower profile that the 67...and would make a good start for your 66.. price is coming down but heli coil could/could not be a issue...
I would also check with other vendor's in a hurry.. the place in San Diego Cranes..he does have all or part of what your looking for ...and reproductions of the same..w/ the hoses, linkage, vacuum lines, carb base, and lid, choke, and the rest of what you will need..might see what a complete set up would run seeing's the the one @ C-3 had been repaired and probably no recourse if not as advertised..IMHO..or any other vendor around the USA that might have a complete
set up

it's expensive to play w/ TRI POWER
If you have the time you can surly find the little stuff w/ some effort..or get it all at once and start putting it on right away..and it will look used/or new.. so hope this helps w/ your decision making process

forgot about accelerator rod, gaskets, return spring, and coil hold down

The hold down on the '68 intake I have is strong and secure and if it didn't work I would refund the buyer's money.

1974, graduated college and needed some money, sold my oval port tri-power off a 69 (was on my 70 454) for $125....sold my ultra rare 66 olds 442 tri-power I had on my 70 W-30, 4.33 gears in alum housing, close ration 4 speed, again $125 and finally my tri-power I had used on my 68 firebird 400 for, yup you guessed it $125.....and was glad to get it just like I was in 71 when I sold my first vette, 67 coupe, side pipes with L-71, all original for whopping $2200 and was glad to get it. as they say, back in the day..lol
