It is spliceable, but you'll probably lose a little bit of reception. Maybe not. You'll have to strip both ends (leave that inside insulation on the inner wire on both ends except for a small amount at the end of each) and solder the inner wire and then either use a shrink rap or tape to insulate that. Then twist the outer shield into a strip on both ends and solder that. Then tape the whole joint. You could wrap the outside before you tape it with a piece of tin foil to try to cut down on noise in your am, but it won't make much difference. If the inner wire and the shield around the outside touch, you'll lose most of your reception. You could also cut the ends and put a male end on one side and a female on the other and plug them together. For best reception, a new cable would be best. You can get an idea of how it will sound by just wrapping the two inner wires together and jumper the shield together. It will actually work pretty well without connecting the shields, but you try yours out and decide. Just connecting the inner conductors together and twisting them will get you pretty good reception if you don't let the shielded wire short to it.
