Default Headlight Problem

I have a headlight on my 66 Convertible.

The headlights light up but they do not rotate up. I am sure this is not the first time this issue has been raised!!!!

Help,

Stephen

I'm not being a smarta$$, but first, are you using the rollup switch on the bottom of the dash under the HL switch?

I see you have a C4 in your avatar. I hate to say this, but are you aware that the headlights on the '66 don't automatically rotate out when you turn them on like the C4? You have to use the switch on the left underside of the instrument panel to rotate them up before turning them on.

Default Headlight Problem

Yes, I am using the roller switch. The lights worked fine before but do not now.

This will take some work with a test light or a voltmeter. The rollover switch should have power into it at all times, and power out when you activate the switch. I don't have the wire colors available to me at the moment, I'm sure someone here will be able to tell you what they are. It's possible, but not really likely, that both headlight motors went bad at the exact same time.

Personally, I think I would try rolling that emergency headlight motor thumb wheel on both sides to see how much effort it takes. Could be the dash switch is corroded and/or the grease in the headlight motors has turned in to Dial soap inside after 50 years (my '63 motors were like that)...

I had the same issue with my headlight rollover switch lately. Follow the post below - an easy repair! Make sure the 2 halves are very tight! Hope this helps!
